A collection of soaps, soap recipes, soap molds and other soap making ideas and thoughts.

My typical soap label on a bar of Lavender soap.

This is one of my 5 pound molds. The mold is made in 2 pieces and can be unbolted very easily to remove the slab. I use freezer paper as a liner which works quite well. Also shown is a soap beveler which can be used to take the edges off.

Here are a couple recipes I often make.

Lavender Soap - 1 pound batch

8 ounces olive oil
4 ounces palm oil
4 ounces coconut oil

2.1 ounces lye (potassium hydroxide)
6 ounces distilled water

Essential oils (added at trace)
2 teaspoons lavender
1 teaspoon rosemary

Chamomile - 1 pound batch

6.1 ounces olive oil
3 ounces palm oil
3 ounces coconut oil
1.6 ounces shea butter
1.3 ounces avocado oil
0.5 ounce castor oil
0.5 ounce sweet almond oil

2.15 ounces lye (potassium hydroxide)
6 ounces distilled water

Essential oils (added at trace)
2 teaspoons Chamomile
1 teaspoon Bergamot
